HOSPERSA TO MARCH TO KZN PREMIER’S OFFICE FOR HEALTH WORKERS’ ISSUES TO BE ADDRESSED
Hospersa in the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) province is requesting members of the media to attend a march to address health workers’ employment issues at KZN Department of Health (DoH).
The Union will be marching to the KZN Office of the Premier to petition the Premier’s intervention in mitigating the departmental shortcomings of the province’s DoH. The following shortcomings have been raised by the Union:
1. Non-translation of nurses who qualified to progress into higher positions, e.g. (Enrolled Nursing Assistants to Enrolled Nurses and Enrolled Nurses to Professional Nurses).
2. Upgrading of Data Capturers from level 4 to level 5.
3. Non-implementation of the Public Health and Social Development Sectoral Bargain Council (PHSDSBC) Resolution 1 of 2018 (Standardisation of remuneration for Community Health Worker in the Department of Health)
4. Addressing staff shortages within KZN public health institutions.
The march will also seek to draw the Premier’s attention on the failure of the MEC to convene a special commission with federations emanating from the Workers’ Parliament 2017. A memorundum of demands will be handed to the Premier’s office for these issues to be addressed.
