HOSPERSA WILL NOT BE SUPPORTING TOMORROW’S PLANNED STRIKE

Hospersa will not be joining the nation-wide strike set to hit the country tomorrow. The strike is organised by the South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) which Hospersa is not affiliated to. The Union has urged its members to go to work and should not heed to calls for a country-wide shut down of public services.

“We appeal to our members to not join the strike,” says Hospersa Public Relations Officer Kevin Halama. “The strike’s intent is to stop the implementation of the national minimum wage which was negotiated for at the National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC). Hospersa is affiliated to the Federation of Unions of South Africa (FEDUSA) which actively took part in negotiations at NEDLAC for the national minimum wage. Participating in this strike would undermine the progress made by our federation,” concluded Halama.
